Prayer for Peace in Troubled Times | John 14:27 – Daily Christian Prayer Podcast

📖 John 14:27 (NIV)“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Peace feels impossibly distant when war headlines dominate our news feeds and global uncertainty unsettles our spirits. How do we reconcile Christ’s eternal promise of peace with a world overshadowed by war, terrorism, and fear? In this deeply moving episode of the Daily Christian Prayer Podcast, Reverend Ben Cooper, broadcasting from London, England, leads listeners into an intimate prayer that acknowledges the reality of global conflict while anchoring us in the supernatural peace only Christ can give.

This five-minute devotional prayer leans into the words of John 14:27, drawing out the richness of Christ’s assurance that His peace is not the fragile, temporary peace of the world, but an unshakable gift rooted in His presence. Reverend Ben models refreshing honesty, admitting that like so many of us, he sometimes feels overwhelmed by anxiety when reading the news. Yet he redirects us to a higher truth—God’s peace transcends borders, war, and fear, and it is available right now.

This prayer also expands beyond personal concerns to embrace those who need intercession most: refugees searching for safety, the persecuted church standing in faith under pressure, families fractured by war, and soldiers separated from loved ones. Listeners across the globe—from London to Sydney, from New York to Nairobi—are united in one voice, lifting these burdens to God and declaring peace where conflict rages.

I really believe that we're looking for peace, whatever our lives look like, whatever we are doing and wherever we live. I really believe that we are looking for something that money cannot buy. So let's turn to the book of john, chapter 14, verse 27, that famous scripture. We're going to take it into prayer, and the title of the prayer today is pray for peace amid war and conflict. Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask for peace first, lord, across my brothers and sisters, and Lord, as we pray through John 14, verse 27. We need peace, dear God, because we're worried about war and we're worried about conflict, we're worried about the atmosphere outside of our four walls of our home. So, father, your word tells us in john 14, verse 27 peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Spirit of the living god. I'm scared, lord, I'm worried, lord, when I see and watch and listen to the news. Lord, help me, lord, not to take in what the news is saying. But, lord, give me peace for my heart. Today I'm worried about the future, lord. I'm worried about war. Lord, I pray for peace in wartime, right now, in the name of Jesus, I pray for peace. I pray, lord, for rest. I pray, dear God, that you will move by your spirit, by your glory, by your power, by your love and by your mercy, lord.

But, lord, I'm frightened, lord, I'm frightened of what I see across the news. I'm frightened by what is around me, lord, on the streets, in the towns. Lord, we're frightened, jesus. So, lord, we need peace. Lord, we know that we are born again Christians, but, lord, what we see is affecting us. So, lord, will you bring peace in times of conflict? Lord, we pray also for the peace of God to be right the way through the Middle East. We pray that the love of God will be right the way through the Middle East. And Lord, please, god, set the captives free. Bless families, lord, in war-torn, conflict zones, lord, where everything is happening. So, father, bring peace to those areas. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

Lord and Father, give us stability for our minds today. Lord, we're frightened of world war. Yes, lord, I'm frightened of world war and I come to you today and I'm seeking your peace. Today, I'm seeking your love because, lord, you tell me in the Gospel of John 14, 27, do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. But, lord, I'm afraid and I'm not frightened to tell the world through this prayer time together. Lord, give me stability. Lord, help me to seek ye first, the kingdom of God.

Lord, we also pray for refugees today and we pray, father, for displaced people across the world. We pray for the persecuted church. We pray, father, for those that their lives have been lost in war and in ungodly situations. We pray, father, for peace. Lord, we need you today and through these prayer points, will you lift us up, father, will you give us stability?

Speaker 0:

Father, we pray for families that are torn apart by war and conflict, terrorism and violence. Spirit of the living God. Please will you help us, lord, during this time of civil unrest. Lord, we look across the world, lord, and it's in turmoil. We need the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. So, all of us today, wherever we are birthed, whatever our culture is, father, we pray for peace over all of our lives and you will bring together, lord, peace across this world.

Speaker 0:

So, father, help me to find peace in times of war. Help us, lord, to look at you in times of trouble. Lord, you tell me. You tell me, father, in the Gospel of John 14, 27,. Peace I leave with you, lord. Will you give me more peace, lord, will you just let it rain down on all of our listeners' ears today? Will you let it rain down on their life today?

Speaker 0:

Father, we need peace. Come Holy Spirit, lord, in these uncertain days, lord, give us peace. We pray and, father, thank you that we are living in very powerful times, very spiritual times, but, lord, we need peace today. Lord, you tell us, through the Gospels of Jesus Christ, that you will be with us, that you will never leave us. So, father, bring peace to our hearts, our minds, in the wonderful name, in the glorious name, in the greatest name, in the most beautiful name, in the name of Jesus, we declare peace and wholeness over our lives. So, lord, you tell us through the Gospel of John, chapter 14, verse 27,. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Father, in this close of this prayer time, help us not to be afraid. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, thank you for joining me today. May the Lord bless you and keep you. See you tomorrow on our daily Christian prayer podcast. Until tomorrow.
