Daily Christian Prayer Podcast @78 – Prayer for Healing and Forgiveness
Scripture: 1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Forgiveness may be the hardest step of faith—both to receive and to extend. In today’s Daily Christian Prayer Podcast, recorded in London, England, Reverend Ben Cooper leads a powerful five-minute prayer designed to bring healing through forgiveness and the restoring mercy of God. This devotional prayer creates sacred space for reflection, repentance, and release, reminding us that daily prayer and daily devotion remain lifelines for peace and renewal.
We begin at the foot of the cross, drawing on the extraordinary promise of 1 John 1:9. Confession is not about shame but about stepping into God’s cleansing love. Yet many believers struggle deeply, knowing in their head they are forgiven but battling memories of guilt, shame, and regret that refuse to let go. This prayer speaks honestly into that tension, creating a pathway for release and restoration.
Reverend Ben reminds us of Christ’s own words on the cross: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” That divine example becomes our model for extending forgiveness in workplaces, families, friendships, and daily interactions where bitterness and anger too often take root. This episode encourages you to lay down grudges, release bitterness, and embrace freedom in Christ—because who the Son sets free is free indeed.
The prayer also addresses the heavy burden of self-forgiveness. Many live under a cloud of regret, replaying past failures on a loop. Here, we are invited to “lay it all down at the cross,” trusting God’s faithful promise to cleanse and renew. As listeners around the world join this daily Christian devotional moment, we collectively claim healing for guilt, shame, brokenness, and pain.
This episode is also a life application for everyday believers. Each listener is encouraged to take a practical step: write down the name, memory, or regret you’ve been holding on to, and in prayer, hand it to God. This act of release—combined with prayer for God’s mercy and compassion—helps restore freedom and hope. Forgiveness is not weakness; it is victory through Christ.

Speaker 0:Today's title is Forgiveness and Mercy. Oh, that's a big one, pastor Ben. That's an enormous prayer time. Come on, let's jump straight in. And the scripture is coming from 1 John. 1 John, chapter 1, verse 9. Verse 9 if we, if we, confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Speaker 0:Father, I thank you today that you have forgiven us this day. So, father, as we come to you in this five minute prayer time, spirit of the living god, I thank you that you have forgiven me by the blood of Jesus, lord. I thank you, god, for the cross of Calvary. I thank you for your mercy, your undesirable saving grace over our lives, father, we are blessed and we are rich in you, spirit of the living God. We thank you that we are saved, that we are rich in mercy, rich in the precious blood of Jesus. Lord, that your mercy, your forgiveness, your saving grace is over our lives. We pray today, lord, that as we have been forgiven, we also will forgive, so, lord, those in our lives, lord, that have caused trouble and hurt and pain. Help us to forgive, lord. Help us to be merciful, as you are to each and every one of us. So today, lord, we pray that you will forgive me of my sins and by your grace and your mercy, father, I thank you that the prayer of forgiveness, lord, releases me, lord, as well. So, father, I come to the cross today and I thank you for the cleansing and the renewal of the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, as we gather around the cross, as we gather around the word for prayer, as we sit, as we be. Still, father, we thank you for the prayer of forgiveness today that is over our lives. We thank you for God's mercy and his grace too.
Speaker 0:Father, we pray for forgiving myself and letting things go. Help me, lord, help me, god. Help me, god. That is the prayer, lord, that can be so difficult as we cry out. Help me, lord. Help me, lord, to get rid of the guilt. Help me to lay it down at the cross.
Speaker 0:Father, this is a difficult prayer to pray, lord, because, lord I, lord, I need your help. I need you to help me, lord, to lay all this down at the cross of Calvary. Lord, I need this cleansing, this blood of Jesus. Lord, I need you to sweep from my life. I need mercy.
Speaker 0:Lord, sometimes I feel that I foul you, lord, that I'm dear God, I'm angry and I'm frustrated, maybe arrogant and fearful. And, lord, that word forgiveness doesn't sit well in my spirit some days. Lord, help me to be forgiven when Jesus was on the cross. Lord, I pray this through right now, lord, as I think about Christ when he was on the cross and he said Father, forgive them, for they know, no, what they do. Help me to be like that at work, in life, in relationships, wherever we go. Help me, lord, to be more merciful. Help me not to get agitated. Help me, lord. So, father, the word forgiveness is massive. So, lord, I thank you for your mercy, your grace, your beautiful power, lord, that is over each and every one of us.
Speaker 0:We pray for forgiveness and we pray today that bitterness and anger will go, release us from bitterness, from hurts of years past. Help us to live, father, in faith and not live in aggression and doubt, lord. Tell us, lord, god, that we are free. Tell us today we need to hear your word. The Bible says who the Son sets free is free indeed. But, lord, will you wash us in the blood today, in the crimson tide? Spirit of the living God, your grace is required over my life today. Your grace is required. So, lord, I thank you for forgiveness and mercy. And, lord, we are forgiven, we are cleansed, lord, we have a pure heart and clean hands. According to the word, it's the spirit of the living god. We pray, lord, that fear will be released, doubt will be released, bitterness and anger will be released today as we come to the cross. So, father, we thank you that we are forgiven, that we are saved, that we are children of the living god.
Speaker 0:So, lord, we pray for healing from guilt. We pray, lord, from guilt and shame of the past. Lord, I know through the cross and through the blood of jesus. I know, jesus, I know, lord, that my sins are wiped away, but my head and my memory and my life keeps bringing these back up to the forefront. So, lord, will you help me to lay it all down at the cross? Will you help me to lay it down today, in the mighty name of Jesus, because we are forgiven and your mercy abounds. So, father, we confess our sin because you are faithful and just. And, lord, we love you wherever you are today. We thank you for joining us today. My name is reverend ben cooper. This has been recorded live here in london, england. May god bless you and keep you until tomorrow.
