Trading Anxiety for Peace — Philippians 4:6-7 | Unshakeable: A Daily Christian Devotional Podcast
Scripture Reference:
Philippians 4:6–7 (NIV) — “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Welcome to Unshakeable: A Daily Christian Devotional Podcast with Reverend Ben Cooper — your daily 15-minute source of biblical strength, emotional healing, and spiritual renewal. Today’s devotional tackles a struggle that touches every soul: anxiety.
In our chaotic world, peace can feel elusive. But the Apostle Paul gives us a bold invitation in Philippians 4:6–7 — to hand over our anxieties through prayer, and receive a supernatural peace that doesn’t rely on external calm, but on internal surrender to Christ.
Reverend Ben invites you to confront your “Goliaths” — the giants of stress, worry, financial uncertainty, broken relationships, or emotional heaviness. Like David on the battlefield, we are called not to face these giants in our own strength, but in the name of the Lord.
This episode doesn’t offer spiritual shortcuts. Instead, it walks you through the raw reality of anxiety and points you toward the throne of grace. Through real prayer and reflection, you’ll learn how to:
- Replace panic with prayer
- Practice thankfulness in the storm
- Allow God’s peace to stand guard over your heart and mind
- Live confidently knowing peace is a promise, not a performance
Whether you’re walking your kids to school, commuting, sitting at your desk, or facing a restless night — this 15-minute devotional is a holy reset. It reminds you that God's peace is not earned by perfection, but received by trust.

We are going to the book of philippians and if you have a bible, please turn with us and we are going to go to Philippians, chapter 4, verse 6. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God, and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your mind through Christ Jesus. What a beautiful message for today. Wherever you are across this world, we pray that the presence of the Holy Spirit, the fire of God, the love of Jesus Christ will strengthen you through this Christian devotional podcast. God is with you.
Speaker 1:What does your day look like? Are you finding that there is fear running through your bones. Do you need peace today? If you are looking for peace today, this scripture, coming from the book of Philippians, chapter 4, verses 6 and through to 7, is for you. Let me read it one more time Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God, and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Do you need peace? I'm going to repeat myself again Do you need peace? Are you standing on the cliff face of life and are you worried about what you see around you? Are you scared about financial stretch? You know, has the peace that God has given you? Has it been robbed from you? Are you finding yourself that you're living by fear, fear over peace and you are struggling in life itself? Shall we pray, shall we ask God that God will give us peace on this morning, this afternoon or this evening? The scripture has been completely clear, that I've just read out from Philippians, chapter 4, verses 6 and 7. And the peace of God that transcends all understanding. Let's pray that God will strengthen our peace that will guide us in the face of adversity. Are there Goliaths in your life? Are there troubles, are there family issues that are taking your peace, your marriage, your relationships, children, work, ministry life, school, education? Are you finding through life that there is no peace and you're living your life through fear and doubt and anxiety?
Speaker 1:As I said a moment ago, I think it's time that we pray, dear God and Heavenly Father. We ask you that peace will be upon us today and, lord, that there'll be peace in our heart and our mind and our body and our soul, that this will be the day that the Lord has made I shall rejoice and be glad so, lord, as I commute, as I go to school, as I go to education, lord, as I, as I work around the home, lord, as I run the business, as I'm in ministry, as I go to education. Lord, as I work around the home, lord, as I run the business, as I'm in ministry, as I'm in church. Lord, whatever humanity is doing today, I pray that the love of God will touch their hearts. Whatever these Bible-believing believers are doing, whatever we are doing, lord, I pray that the Spirit of the living God will bring peace to our heart. Today, lord, your scripture tells us and through prayer right now, god, we pray this scripture, that, lord, we will not be anxious about anything. But, lord, in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, we come to you and we bring our request to your throne today and we say Jesus, holy Spirit, the Father of all fathers, the God of Israel, spirit of the living God, I need peace in my heart, lord.
Speaker 1:My workspace is making me agitated. My life is giving me agitations. Lord, I'm not sleeping. Will you help me sleep? Lord, I've lost my peace. I've almost lost my understanding of life, but today, through the book of Philippians, lord, I've lost my peace. I've almost lost my understanding of life, but today, through the book of Philippians, through this Christian devotional podcast, I ask you, father, as I listen, as I cry out today, lord, let your peace and your joy run through my veins. Lord, let the Holy Spirit anoint me today because, lord, I believe in your word and through this prayer time this morning, through this devotional time, I bring my life to you, god.
Speaker 1:Lord, I can't find peace in money, I can't find peace in business. Lord, I've been looking for peace in the wrong areas of life and I come to you today, lord, and I just want to say thank you, lord, that you sent your son to die on the cross of Calvary so that I would have life and have freedom. So today, lord, I speak freedom in my heart, I speak freedom over my life, over the area in which I live. I speak peace and freedom Because, lord, with peace automatically comes freedom. So today, jesus, holy Spirit, I call on your great name, I call on Jehovah Jireh, jehovah Nissi, that today, as I read this scripture in my daily devotion, lord, I kneel at the cross of Calvary, lord, I lay on the floor of life and I say Jesus, I thank you for the book of Philippians. I thank you for this chapter four, verse six, through to seven.
Speaker 1:Lord, I will not be anxious about anything, lord, but in everything, by prayer and conversation and speaking and crying out and petition to you with thanksgiving, through the tears and the pain and the turmoil, I present my request to you. And right now, lord, the requests are help me, help me to be strong in the face of adversity, help me to be like a young David that runs down into the battlefield of life and just says to the Goliaths of financial problems, to the Goliaths of stress, to the Goliaths of social media, to the Goliaths of life, to the Goliaths of ministry, to the Goliaths of social media, to the Goliaths of life, to the Goliaths of ministry, to the Goliaths of relationships, to the Goliaths of fear and doubt, to all the Goliaths that are before me, my God is able. You come against me with spear, javelin, sword, but I come in the name of the Lord. And this morning, lord, when I commute to work, as I sit on the train, on the bus, as I cycle into the office, lord, as I walk the children to school, as I do the school run, as I'm in the traffic, lord, as I'm sitting on the edge of the scaffold, lord, as I'm at my desk, as I'm in retail, as I'm in business, lord, as I live my life, as I'm at home, sitting now on the edge of the bed, lord, I cry to you and I say, father, I'm going to rise, lord, today I'm going to rise on wings as of eagles. And today is the day of rejoicing, today is the day of redemption, today is the day of freedom, today is the day of my God and my King. And I come to you in the book of Philippians, chapter 4, 6 and 7. And I speak peace and freedom in my heart Because, lord, I am presenting my request to you. I list them, lord. Lord, I list them just like a shopping list. List them, lord, lord, I list them just like a shopping list Because, lord, I need this. Lord, you tell me through your word that your ways are higher than my ways.
Speaker 1:So, through this devotional time, these 15 minutes, lord, this commute time, this quick-fired podcast, spirit of the Living God, wherever my brothers and sisters are across this globe, I pray that the love of God will touch them and peace will go beyond understanding, that the joy of the Lord will be their strength. Keep them strong, hold them, lord, in the scripture today, as they commute, as they work, as they bring families up. I pray for those that are in marriages. I pray for those that are single. I pray for those that are looking to get married, those that are going through the strain and the pressure of relationship breakdown. I pray, father, that you will bless homes and lives. Father, that you will remove fear. Lord, through the power of life. Today, will you bring peace in the face of adversity? Lord, your word says extremely clear today that you will bring peace to us.
Speaker 1:So today, from the book of philippians, chapter 4, verse 6 to 7 Do not be anxious about anything. I pray for my mental health today. I pray for my anxieties today. I pray that anxiety will go and I will get freedom from anxiety, from fear, from social anxiety, from the anxiety of going to work, from the anxiety of relationships, from the anxiety of waking up and not sleeping well and just the drum of life. Lord, I'm tired of this drumbeat of life. I'm anxious today and I want, lord, peace above everything.
Speaker 1:So today, through my day, through my life, lord, I pray today that I will find peace through your very presence. And wherever we are, whatever we are doing, wherever we are capturing this broadcast and this podcast and this daily devotion, god, I pray that peace will come in and it will rain over us. That peace will rain down on us today, jesus, let it rain, let it be like a monsoon, lord, let the rain saturate us today. The rain of peace, the rain, dear God, of understanding. The rain of understanding that you are with us. We understand, lord, that you are with us. But, lord, we don't want to hold everything to our understanding, lord, we want to go deeper in your word. We want to live by faith. We don't want to live in this fear suit. We want to live by faith. Today, spirit of the living God, will you fill our hearts full of peace?
Speaker 1:Lord, as I read this scripture over and over and over again, I thank you that your word is freedom. Do not let your hearts be troubled, the gospel says. That's so beautiful, isn't it that scripture that comes out of the gospel? When I bring that into play with this one today, do not let your hearts be troubled, wherever you are. Take hold of this scripture, philippians 4, verse 6, through to 7. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, and prayer and petition with thanksgiving let's just ponder on that a moment but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving I'm going to repeat that one more time with thanksgiving. I thank you. I thank you for my life now. I thank you for everything and, lord, I believe that there is change. There is change in all of our lives and today, lord, the great change is that fear has gone and the anxiety has gone and doubt has gone and freedom abounds.
Speaker 1:So today, lord, the peace of god, according to philippians, chapter 4, verse 7, and the peace of god which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and our minds in christ jesus. Holy spirit, we need you, holy spirit, will you lead us through the word today? So, lord, wherever we are across this world, lord, we're learning and we're trusting not to be anxious. So, all of our requests, we bring them verbally to you today and we say thank you for the power of the eternal God. And as we are commuting, as we are working, as we are just taking time out, we thank you for this devotion today. Lord, peace beyond understanding. So, father, will you touch our hearts today? Will you enrich our minds, our bodies, our souls today? So, father, we thank you for the scripture.
